Ports and offshore-adjacent systems can introduce cable, grounding, mounting and maintenance questions that should be documented with the receiver and platform interfaces. An engineering review should make these relationships explicit before a candidate GNSS configuration is compared.

Define the operating and installation boundary

Record whether the project concerns port equipment, coastal infrastructure, offshore-support operations or another commercial workflow. Identify proposed antenna location, available mounting area, nearby structures, equipment enclosures, service access and the cable route to the receiver or controller.

Document cable and connector decisions

Capture cable length, routing constraints, connector access, protection needs, service loops and interfaces at each end of the path. These records help separate the physical installation discussion from receiver configuration and platform software behavior.

Include grounding and power in the review record

Record available power, bonding or grounding approach, conductive structures, maintenance requirements and known nearby equipment. This is a planning record, not evidence of approval, compliance or a measured RF outcome.

Connect the receiver to the platform workflow

Confirm receiver information, requested signals, interfaces, navigation or status outputs and the platform system that consumes them. Keep unknown items visible so they can be resolved before selection.
